All non-contact instruments contain a targeting light to ensure the correct surface area is being measured. An infrared thermometer can only measure the temperature of exposed surfaces and not through glass. Some infrared thermometer posses a preset emissivity value, and others allow the user to choose the emissivity value depending on the surface material being measured, whether it's paper, wood or metallic surfaces. If the user measures shiny metallic surfaces, such as cylinders, the non-contact devices can only be used to determine tendencies in temperature as it's not possible to measure absolute temperature with infrared thermometer on polished or shiny surfaces. It also floats so that it can be quickly retrieved if accidentally dropped in the tank. To resolve the problem of frequent battery replacement, our R &;D team has produced a meter that will run for 2000 hours continuously on common AA-type batteries (included). This translates into more than 2 years of continuous use up to 2 hours a day, seven days a week! Calibration has been simplified to one-point through a dial on the front of the meter. The outer casing also incorporates a molded eye so you can hang the meter when not in use.

The HI 98112 (PICCOLO 2) is a revolutionary Pocket Stick pH Meter with 160 mm Electrode with a 4-in-1 electrode and amplifier. Conventional pH meters are susceptible to the weak high impedance signal which makes the electrode, connector, cable and meter vulnerable to noise, humidity and dirty environs. The PICCOLO 2 has overcome these problems with a per-amplified electrode (HI 1290) delivering a strong signal to the meter. The 4-in-1 interchangeable electrode is inexpensive and rugged and houses the pH sensor, reference system and the amplifier module.
