Air Permeability Tester
The “Nunes” Air Permeability tester for textiles is used for air permeability testing of the fabrics. Digital and analogue models are available. This system consists of an arrangement for holding the test specimens between two flat faces so as to expose a known area to the flow of air through it, a vacuum system to draw air through the exposed area of the test specimens. There is an arrangement to measure the volume of air flowing through the test specimen, and arrangement to measure the pressure drop between the faces of the test specimen. The test specimen is hold between two round-shaped grips. The grips are lined with rubber gasket to avoid the leakage of air through the edges. The two grips can be held the test specimens with the help of a hand operated screw mechanism. The vacuum needed to draw the air through the test specimens is created with the vacuum pump supplied with the instrument. The vacuum pressure is measured by the digital manometer (or manometer tube) in terms of mm of water level & airflow is measured by the Rotameters attached with the instrument. The equipment is metallic paint & bright chrome plating finish for corrosion resistant finishing.

Crackness Tester (Apparatus)
NUNES Crackness Apparatus consists of a clamp device, which rigidly holds one end of the test piece. A mandrel of the desired diameter and a roller of diameter 25mm make contact with the flesh and the grain surface respectively of the middle portion of the test piece,across its full width. The axes of both the mandrel is fixed relative to the clamp, the axel of the roller is attached to a handle pivoted at the axis of the mandrel. It consists of a horizontal base plate to which is rigidly attached a shouldered spigot whose narrow part has the diameter of the smallest mandrel. The circular hole in the handle fits over, which thus acts as a pivot. A mandrel of the desired diameter fits. A roller of diameter 25mm is carried on a vertical axel fixed to the handle in such a way that its distance from the circular hole may be set at any value desired. The test piece clamp is attached to a slotted strip, which allows its position relative to the base plate to be varied. All the mandrels are made of stainless steel and the other parts are either painted or chrome platted to give a corrosion resistance long life.

Crease Recovery Tester
The NUNES Crease Recovery Tester is designed to measure crease recovery angle of fabrics. It consists of a rotary circular scale on which a spring type specimen clamp is fixed on the base plate on which the above arrangement is mounted. The test specimen is fixed on a loading strip supplied with the equipment. After folding the specimen on the creasing line marked on the strip, the loading strip with folded specimen is kept on an anvil under the dead load of the loading arrangement for a specified time. After that the specimen with the loading strip is transferred to the clamp of the rotary circular scale, where it is held in manner that the fold lies in a horizontal line on the axis of the circular scale. The circular scale with the clamp is rotated till the free limb of the specimen becomes vertical which is judged by aligning it to a vertical pointer. The crease recovery angle is directly read on the circular scale.

Crockmeter For Leather

This test is used for the determination of colour fastness against rubbing, either under dry or wet condition. Drape Meter
The NUNES Drape meter consists of a circular specimen support, an electric lamp to give off light, and an exposing and developing arrangement using light sensitive ammonia paper to determined the area covered by the shadow of the test specimen, and an electric lamp to expose the ammonia paper to determine the area covered by the shadow of the test specimen. The circular specimen support is made out cast aluminum and is fixed over a clear acrylic sheet. The sheet is hinged at one end and can be lifted for placing the ammonia paper for exposure. The paper is kept below the acrylic sheet on a resilient surface so that it is in close contact with the sheet when it is horizontal. The specimen holding and paper exposing arrangement is kept inside a sheet metal exposing chamber. The electric lamp is fitted at the upper end of the chamber so that light rays coming from it are intercepted by the test specimen. The rays which are not intercepted fall on the paper and expose it, thus giving a demarcation between exposed and unexposed areas. The chamber has a close fittings door. It has ventilation holes near its bottom and top for keeping it cool. An ammonia vapour developing chamber in which the exposed paper is kept for developing is provided below the exposing chamber. This chamber has a close fitting door and an arrangement to keep ammonium hydroxide to create a suitable atmosphere for developing the print. The test specimen is kept over a welded wire mesh plateform to ensure a uniform developing. The outside of the apparatus is finished in dark admiralty grey synthetic enamel to give it a corrosion resistant finish. A metal template of 250 mm diameter have a central hole for marking and cutting the test specimens, a specimen pressing disc, one hundred sheets of ammonia process paper, and one bottle of ammonium hydroxide are supplied as standard accessories.

Description:
The NUNES Flammability Tester for interior of motor vehicle consists of a stainless steel box. The box has four slits of specified width on the upper part of all sides and the bottom plate has 10holes of specified diameter. The box have an access window of a heat resistant glass plate in the front, and a door that have a slot that allow U-shaped clamp enter the box, and a hole for passing a hose from a gas burner, on the side. Flexometer
Flexometer is used for the assessment of the flexing endurance of light leathers and their surface finishes. The ability of light leathers such as those used in shoe uppers, gloves and garments to with stand repeated flexing without cracking can be accurately determined with NUNES Flexometer. This testing equipment is built on a rigid metallic base plate. The test specimen is held between a pair of stationary and oscillating grips. The grips are specially designed to enable quick fixing and removal of test specimen and are shaped to meet the specifications.
A six digit even electronic counter with key reset and backup memory is provided to count the total number of flexing cycles undergone by the test specimens. The equipment is able to carry out number of flex cycles per test.

Melt Flow Index
NUNES Melt Flow Index Apparatus for plastic measures the melt flow index of plastic material. The system consists of a heated extruder tube, an interchangeable jet through which the material under test is extruded, and a piston with dead weights to apply the specified pressure on the material inside the extruder tube. The extruder tube is made from carbon steel and is heated by means of a Bend Heater, which surrounds its outer circumference. A PID controller is provided to indicate & control the temperature of the tube. The heater logged with mineral wool insulation. The assembly is fixed on a rigid stand. The bottom of the tube is lagged with a insulation of PTFE to prevent sticking of the extrudate. The jet through with the extruder is pushed out is made from hardened and ground die steel. It is held at the bottom of the extruder tube. The piston made from silver steel relieved at the upper end is provided to push the extrudate out of the jet. The piston moves inside the cavity of tube. A sleeve to provide to guide the relieved portion of the piston. The top of the piston carries a plate-form for keeping the load on. The plate-form is thermally insulated from the load. The extruder tube assembly is mounted on a metal box. A sheet metal control panel is mounted on the side of the equipment & houses the PID Controller, DIGITAL PRESET TIMER & other electronic components. Oxygen Index Apparatus
NUNES Oxygen Index Apparatus consists of a test chimney made of borosilicate glass suppurated by the metallic base and hook with the help of the metallic pillar. The mixture of nitrogen and oxygen is released from the bottom of tube. The tube is filled with glass beads for mixing and evenly distributing the gas mixture. The specimen holder, which holds the test specimen, made of U shape and fixed at the center of the chimney. There is the porous screen mounted below the level of the specimen holder, to prevent falling combustion debris from fouling the gas entry and distribution paths. There is a digital temperature indicator cum controller with thermocouple for the measurement. A copper tube with suitable orifice for pilot flame is provided for igniting the specimen by inserting it from the top of the test column. The digital preset timer and buzzer is also mount in the instrument. Two rotameter with needle valve are provided to control and measure oxygen and nitrogen flow in the test chimney. A timer for indicating the time of burning with a reset switch. The rotameter, temperature controller, timer are fitted in the sheet panel. The test chimney is fitted separately on the metallic platform. Gases, gas cylinders and its fittings are not provided with the equipment and have to be arranged by the purchaser.

Pilling Tester

Smoke Visibility Tester
NUNES Smoke Visibility Tester made of a plywood chamber inner side painted by heat proof paint the ceiling of the chamber have a hole which permit to hold light meter cell while testing.
